‘Manners maketh man’ (or woman for that matter)
Simon Wallace | 10th September 2018
My grandmother especially (god bless her) reminded me of this many times growing up and therefore, good manners, in terms of decency and respect of all others, is part of my DNA that I’ve tried to pass onto my children and teams.
I absolutely despise bad manners and cannot understand why some people demonstrate unacceptable disrespectful behaviour. Bad manners are destructive, disrespectful and they flatten and kill relationships.
Good, courteous, considerate action in all elements of communication no matter whom you are dealing with goes a significant way to making all interactions a positive experience and a platform for a healthy agreeable discussion.
Good manners are one of those habits that make managers great leaders that build a following that makes great business.
Leaders set the tone and step in straight away to correct any action that challenges this tone.
What behaviour rules have you set yourself and your team? Their behaviour is in your hands ..
Give good manners, get good manners back ..
